The 2005 Human Development Index

1 08 2006

The United Nations has published it’s Human Development Index, which lists countries based on standard of living.  Norway took the top prize (again) and the United States came in at number 10.  Every country that ranked as ‘low human development’ is in Africa.

Here’s a link to the pdf file.

What I find interesting is the list of countries that either could not or would not provide data:

Liberia, Somalia, Puerto Rico, Afghanistan, Macau, North Korea, Iraq, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, Serbia, The Holy See, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, and Tuvalu.
