Evangelical Support of Israel

14 11 2006

The New York Times has an interesting article about the Christian Evangelical support of Israel.

Many conservative Christians and their Jewish allies acknowledge a certain tension between the evangelical belief in a Biblical commission to convert non-Christians and their simultaneous desire to help the Jews of Israel.

Dr. Dobson, along with some other evangelicals, has expressed disappointment with what he saw as the Bush administration’s pressure on Israel to sign the cease-fire that ended the fight.

I question the morality of people who encourage a foreign country to go to war because they think it will bring the ‘rapture’.  Does Israel really want that kind of encouragement?

The evangelical support of Israel is no more than a form of crusade.  And that is something that should not be tolerated in the 21st century.

I find this relationship between evangelicals and Israel to be totally bizare. And it is amazing to me how few people are aware of it. I would love to read more on this.
