Hillary Clinton is a Fear Monger

16 11 2007

From the democratic debate in Las Vegas (transcript):

BLITZER: You say national security is more important than human rights. Senator Clinton, what do you say?

CLINTON: I agree with that completely. The first obligation of the president of the United States is to protect and defend the United States of America.

Wow.  It is that kind of thinking that lead to the patriot act.  It is that kind of thinking that lead to the dystopic vision Orwell put forth in 1984.  What is worth defending if not our human rights?  Without human rights we have nothing.  Clinton’s answer (she’s not the only one, Dodd answered the same) exposes a serious flaw in her way of thinking.  That’s an easy question – and she got it wrong.  It is also a very serious question.  AND SHE GOT IT WRONG.  Because of that answer, we should be very afraid of another Clinton in the white house.

I really liked Obama’s answer. The two, human rights and national security, can go hand in hand. Support for human rights around the world can improve national security. Wolf Blitzer is the worst moderator ever. Check out my article about last night’s debate.

I agree – the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

You are right about Kucinich. When he DOES get asked a question…it’s about UFO’s or something. Why don’t they take the guy seriously? Does it REALLY have something to do with they way he looks? I suspect it might.

I like your articles. I’m going to add you to my blogroll. Will you do the same for me?

What collectivist totalitarians these “democrats” are. The first obligation is to uphold and defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and protect the individual against the encroachments of government against their inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The death-penalty lovers of the fascist democratic party overthrew that long ago. They’ll lose.—Silverwolf

That’s exactly what I was thinking . . . she says the first duty of the president is to defend the country, I always thought it was to uphold the constitution.
